Tomorrow morning we have to get up early and clean the church because President Weidman’s coming. I’m afraid when he comes and sees it, he will want us to paint the church tomorrow because the elders decided to paint the church and they thought the walls were white. They’re not really white. So now there are random white spots all over the church and it’s really funny.
We went up to a member’s house, who is always there because she can’t really walk well. So we went up to see her but the door was locked. She told us last week that her brother was coming from America and now she’s gone and so we’re just not sure about that. We may have lost one of our members.
Yesterday we went to visit an investigator who was staying at a hotel on the beach. The elders didn’t think the lesson would actually happen so one of them said “if this lesson actually happens, I will buy tres leches”. After the 40 minute drive we got out of the car and it smelled so good, like pine trees. We met her at a café on the beach and gave her a lesson, it was soooo worth the drive. So we drank peach bravo and sat on the beach and talked about the Gospel. It smelled like salt and the beach and the sun was going down, it was so beautiful! I don’t think it can get better than that, it was really awesome! I have decided that peach bravo is the nectar of the Gods, it’s amazing. Afterwards, we called Elder Wilcox to tell him the lesson actually happened, he had to buy tres leches.
Once upon a time Sister Roi was super tired, so after we came home she went to sleep. I was on the phone in the main room with the sister training leader, so I went out on the balcony to talk to her and I closed the door so I wouldn’t wake Sister Roi. The door locked from the inside, so I was locked out on the balcony. I was knocking on the window really hard trying to wake her up and banging on the wall until my knuckles were bruised. Then I called the Elder Ostler and told him I was locked out on the balcony, he didn’t stop laughing for like 5 minutes, until I said “go find your companion and see if you have a spare key”. They came over and tried to come in , but we had left our key to the front door in the lock so we wouldn’t lose it, and when the key is on the lock on the inside you can’t unlock it from the outside, so they couldn’t get in to the apartment. They knocked and knocked and Sister Roi wouldn’t get out of bed. So then they went downstairs and started to hit the buttons for the doorbell to be buzzed in. But they didn’t know which button to push. So one elder stayed inside and put his ear against the door while another elder went downstairs and started pushing all the buttons. The elders relayed information by phone as to which apartment buzzer was ringing, “farther, closer, closer.” When they found the right button to ring our apartment they kept ringing it over and over until Sister Cuni finally got out of bed and found me on the balcony and asked why are there people ringing the doorbell?
We made pancakes today for Pioneer Day and chocolate chip cookies, but we didn’t have a baking sheet so we baked them on a weird thing and they all stuck to the pan and became a random chocolate cookie mess. Then Elder Squire saw them and said “what did you do?’ then he took a handful of them and took a bite and said, “hey these are pretty good.”
Love you all to Gallifrey and back,
Sister Johansen
