Hello family,
We made byrek (which is a spinach pie) at the Larson’s with a couple of the members. Another day our neighbor, *Carson, who likes to cook, taught us how to make homemade pasta. We gave him a persimmon and he drew a face on it because apparently it was "rubbish". I saw Sister Bezus this week. I’m so glad I still get to see her sometimes since she was transferred.
This week it rained a lot. It rained really, really hard. It was even raining inside the church. We were watching the storm, and the lightning was so close we could hear the thunder and see the flash at the same time. It was deafening. We were afraid our power was going to go out so we had candles and matches ready. We couldn’t do our planning because we don’t have phone service when it rains so we couldn’t make any phone calls.
Albanians don’t like to go out when it rains. So we had cancelled lessons this week because of rain. We had several days with 0 lessons because they all fell through. I don’t understand why, because we just put on a coat, grab an umbrella and go outside.
We watched general conference over two days this week. It was good, but it was in Albanian so we will listen to it again in English. In between sessions we were cleaning out Carson's house. His house was flooded due to all the rain. The missionaries were bailing out his house and yard with buckets.
All the floods that happened were so heartbreaking. Watching people lose everything was completely devastating. I saw one sister who is usually sassy and happy and laughing, break down into tears in front of six missionaries and her son as she stood in her broken home with all of her destroyed belongings. It was very humbling.
I love you all to Gallifrey and back!!
Love,
